PPCC president and Lok Sabha MP from Gurdaspur Sunil Jakhar today blamed the SAD for the economic crisis in the state. It is the result of the wrong policies of the previous government in the state, he said.

“The previous SAD-BJP government converted the bungling of Rs 32,000 crore for foodgrain into loans just a day before the counting of votes after the Assembly elections, consigning Punjab’s future into darkness,” he said.

Addressing a gathering at Thathian Mahantan village, 20 km from here, Jakhar said, “The SAD rakes up religion every now and then but has not made any effort to get the GST on langar waived from its ally, NDA at the Centre. Even after ruling Punjab for 10 years, the SAD didn’t formulate any step for the farm debt waiver and now when Capt Amarinder Singh-led government has announced the debt waiver scheme, the Akalis are not being able to digest it.”

According to the PPCC president, the present government led by Capt Amarinder Singh has inherited an economy which was in a shambles and was being brought on track.

Jakhar assured that the state government would fulfill every promise made to the people of the state. Patti MLA Harminder Singh Gill and Tarn Taran MLA Dharamvir Agnihotri were present whereas MLAs Ramanjit Singh Sikki (Khadur Sahib) and Sukhpal Singh Bhullar (Khemkaran) were conspicuous by their absence.
