Roundabout near rly bridge to be named after Master Tara Singh

AMRITSAR: Navjot Singh Sidhu, Minister of Local Government, Tourism, Cultural Affairs and Museums, on Sunday announced that the railway station roundabout would be named as Master Tara Singh Chowk.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, Minister of Local Government, Tourism, Cultural Affairs and Museums, on Sunday announced that the railway station roundabout would be named as Master Tara Singh Chowk. Besides, the roundabout will be reconstructed near the newly-constructed railway overbridge.

The minister was addressing the gathering at SSSS Modern High School during a state-level function to mark the birth anniversary of Master Tara Singh.

He said, “Once the newly-constructed railway bridge is functional, the chowk near the station will be renamed and a statue of the great leader will be installed. The existing infrastructure will be demolished and a statute will come up. We must remember the contribution of such great leaders in our society.”

The road leading to his residence at Putlighar will be called Master Tara Singh road. Sidhu also urged the family to allow them to convert a part of their residence into museum to remember the contribution of the Sikh leader.

The state-level function saw dignitaries paying their respect to Master Tara Singh, describing his contribution to the society.

A play by theatre group of Gurinder Makna, highlighting the plight of the state at times of drug abuse and need for Tandrust Punjab. Daughter-in-law of Master Tara Singh, Dr Jaspreet Kaur gave a detailed insight into the life of the leader and his philosophy.

The Cabinet minister also talked about drug abuse and assured of changes soon.
