Amritsar, April 11

With the arrest of three persons, the city police today claimed to have solved a robbery case in which unidentified persons had barged into a house and decamped with jewellery and cash after making the woman in the house hostage on April 4.

The arrested were identified as Dilbagh Singh, alias Bagha, Punjab Singh and Amandeep Singh, all residents of Rangarh village in Gharinda.

The police have recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 4.5 lakh from their possession.

They have registered a case under Sections 394, 342 and 34 of the IPC following the statement of the victim, Ranjna Madaan, a resident of Het Ram Colony, Naraingarh, in Chheharta.

The incident came to light when Madaan’s neighbours came to her house and found her unconscious.

They immediately informed the police and took her to a hospital. Madaan told the police that at around 3 pm, the accused came to her house and said they had come to meet Dilbagh Singh, who lived on the upper floor of the house with his family.

She said she allowed them to enter the house but when she was bolting the gate, the accused caught hold of her and dragged her into the house.

She alleged she was physically assaulted by the culprits and when they pulled her earrings, she fell unconscious due to severe pain.
