Amritsar: Some unidentified robbers struck at an ATM booth and decamped with Rs2.80 lakh at Chetanpura village on Monday night. DSP Ajnala Harpeet Singh reached the spot on Tuesday morning and saw three doors of the ATM lying broken. It is believed that they looted the money from the ATM after breaking open them. Bank official Avneet Singh said there was 2.80 lakh in the booth. The accused also took away the recording device of CCTV cameras installed in and outside the booth. The bank did not hire any security guard. Villagers demanded police patrolling in the area as several shops were robbed in the past few months. The police have registered a case under relevant sections and initiated an investigation.
