Road rage: Man fires at trader, arrested

AMRITSAR: A road rage took an ugly turn when a car driver opened fire at another vehicle owner at Gate Hakima on Wednesday evening. The accused has been identified as Subash Sehgal, a resident of Gate Hakima, and his 10 accomplices.

A road rage took an ugly turn when a car driver opened fire at another vehicle owner at Gate Hakima on Wednesday evening. The accused has been identified as Subash Sehgal, a resident of Gate Hakima, and his 10 accomplices. He has been arrested.

Victim Anoop Singh, who has a soft drink business in Anngarh, said his driver Manav was heading towards Chattiwind Chowk in his Bolero Pick-up when Subash Sehgal rammed his vehicle into his near Gate Hakima at around 7 pm on Wednesday.

Subash Sehgal reportedly had a scuffle with Manav, who called Anoop Singh.

According to Anoop, Sehgal called someone and started using hurling abuses at them. Meanwhile, Subash opened the fire but he caught hold of Subash’s arm to ensure no loss of life.

He raised the alarm following which Subash ran away, leaving his vehicle on the spot. The pistol of Subash also fell down while running.

ASI Harnek Singh, investigating officer, said Sehgal fled when police team reached there. He was later caught. His car, a .32 bore pistol, three cartridges and one empty cartridge have been seized, he added.
