The Municipal Corporation (MC), Amritsar, passed a proposal to turn Amritsar into a smart heritage city at Guru Nanak Bhawan here today.

In context of this proposal, the MC will hold a smart city Amritsar meet at Guru Nanak Bhawan on June 8. The meeting will commence at 11 am.

The smart city concept will be discussed in the meeting as per the report submitted by the MC to the Union Ministry of Urban Development.

Amritsar was placed 25th in the list of 100 smart cities. The discussion will be held in this context in full public view.

In order to ensure that everyone participates in the discussion, an open invitation has been sent to all city stake holders, including officials of the Amritsar Development Authority, Improvement Trust, Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board, PWD (B&R), besides other government and semi-government departments.

“Officials of all departments have been requested to participate and critically review the smart city proposal to make it more practical and sustainable in the work domain,” said MC Commissioner Sonali Giri.

She said, “All the shopkeepers association, Mohalla Sudhar Committees, market associations, park welfare committees, NGO’s and the general public is also invited to participate in large numbers to put forward their suggestions.”
