The process for departmental promotions to the posts of headmasters and lecturers will be completed soon, said Krishan Kumar, Secretary, School Education, here on Friday. He was here in the district to conduct a day-long surprise inspection at government schools.

He said the department had decided not to transfer teachers from the primary section for the students’ betterment.

He expressed satisfaction over the “improvement” in the education standard after filing of the vacant posts of teachers. He said that while appointing the newly-recruited teachers, the department preferred interests of border area students.

Krishan Kumar also addressed a joint meeting of officials, heads of government smart schools and called for conducting exams free of copying. He appealed to all to cooperate for copying-free exams.

Commenting on the teachers’ agitation, he said that most of the protesters’ demands had been accepted while other demands were under consideration.

District Education Officer (Secondary) Nirmal Singh and DEO Kawaljit Singh also addressed the gathering.
