Even as the four armed robbers took away the digital video recorder (DVR) after looting Rs 11.54 lakh from Axis Bank’s Khujala village branch two days ago, the police have stumbled upon a CCTV footage in which three of the suspects are seen entering the bank.

The police have released the pictures of the accused and urged the people to provide information about them if they come across.

Four persons, armed with country-made pistols, had robbed the bank in Khujala, falling under the Tarsikka police station, in broad daylight. Before fleeing, they took away the digital video recorder of the CCTV cameras.

One of the accused entered the bank posing as a customer and started filling some voucher at around 1.50 pm. Later, three of his accomplices barged into the bank and took the staff hostage. They reportedly decamped with Rs 11.54 lakh. The police authorities have pegged the figure at Rs 10 lakh. Four of them had come in an i20 car while their fifth accomplice was on a bike keeping a watch outside the bank. He also conducted a recce of the bank. Two of them were wearing headgear.

Amritsar rural SSP Parampal Singh said that the police teams had been conducting raids at the suspects’ possible hideouts. “We are also looking for the i20 car in which the accused had come to rob the bank,” he added.
