A local court on Sunday extended the police remand of six suspects nabbed by the police in the Kaler Bomb blast case. They were produced in the court after the expiry of their 5-day police remand.

Two persons were killed while Gurjant was critically injured in the blast earlier this month. The injured, Gurjant Singh of Bachre, was under treatment at a local private hospital.

The state government has now handed over the probe to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Those produced in the court were Manpreet Singh of the local Muradpur locality, Amritpal Singh of Bachre, Harjit Singh of Pandori Gola, Channdeep Singh Gabbar of Batala, Malkiat Singh of Kotla Gujjra (Amritsar) and Amarjit Singh of Fatehgar Churian (Gurdaspur). The seventh accused Maandeep Singh Massa of Dinewal (Tarn Taran) who was produced in the court on Saturday was sent in the judicial lock-up under judicial remand. He was Divianag from both the legs.

Earlier, the Sadar police had registered a case under Section 304, Indian Penal Code, and Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Act on September 5. Later, the police added Sections 10, 11 and 13 Unlawful Activities Act 1967 and Sections 153-A and 120-B, Indian Penal Code(IPC), in the First Information Report (FIR).

Baldev Singh Gill, advocate on behalf of two accused, said he had sought written permission from the court to meet his clients to discuss the next course of the case, but the police did not permit him. He said he would file a case in the court in this regard.
