Police inaction alleged in fraud case involving SAD leader

Aam Adami Party has alleged police inaction in a fraud case in which a former Akali sarpanch had allegedly got prepared fake documents to grab a chunk of agricultural land.

Jaswinder Singh Jahangir, zonal in charge of the AAP from the Attari constituency, met Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, and discussed the case. Khaira assured AAP workers that he would discuss the issue with the DGP.

Jaswinder Singh Jahangir said, “Former Akali sarpanch Baksish Singh, key accused Manjit Singh and five others had forged documents of Jasbir Singh, who used to reside in Malaysia. SSP (Investigations) Harpal Singh conducted an inquiry following which a case was registered at the Chattiwind Police Station on March 19 this year. The accused haven’t been arrested till date. We have approached senior police officials but in vain. The police are working under the pressure of Akalis.”

Avtar Singh, SHO, Chattiwind police station, said, “I joined the office just a week ago. No complaint has visited the police station till date. We are committed to fair investigation.”

The police had booked seven persons in the case. No one has been arrested so far.
