Police constable looted at gunpoint

AMRITSAR: Four unidentified car-borne miscreants looted a police constable at gunpoint in the Vallah area here on Monday. In his complaint to the Maqboolpura police, victim Gurpreet Singh said on Monday, he and his father were heading toward the bus stand on a bike around 4 am when the incident took place.

Four unidentified car-borne miscreants looted a police constable at gunpoint in the Vallah area here on Monday.

In his complaint to the Maqboolpura police, victim Gurpreet Singh said on Monday, he and his father were heading toward the bus stand on a bike around 4 am when the incident took place.

“When we reached near the railway overbridge on the bypass road, near Vallah, four persons in a car intercepted us. The accused had a pistol and they looted Rs5,000, three mobile phones, PAN card, ID card and a bag containing uniforms. Thereafter, they escaped,” said the victim.

ASI Gurbir Singh, in charge of the Vallah police post, said, “The constable is posted at Punjab Armed Police in Pathankot. His father was going to drop him at the bus stand when the incident took place. We have registered a case under Section 379-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.”
