Accusing the police of implicating workers of political parties in false cases, members of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) staged a dharna in front of the SSP’s office here today. They submitted a memorandum to officials of the SSP’s office.

Pargat Singh Jamarai, state leader of RMPI, said, “The police have become an instrument in the hands of the ruling Congress party. Criminal cases are being registered at the behest of leaders of the ruling party. Baba Dilbag Singh, head of the Goshala Cheema Kalan, and other sewadars are being harassed by the police without any reason.”

He said one of the leaders of the RMPI had also been implicated in a false case due to political reasons.

The party members threatened to stage a protest in front of the residence of local MLA on March 7 if justice was not given to the victims. They lifted their dharna after getting an assurance from SP Gurnam Singh.
