Amritsar, December 4

Highlighting the issues of farmers, a play, ‘Supna Ka Sapna’, was staged at the art gallery here. The play was presented by the Disha Theatre group from New Delhi.

It was an attempt to raise awareness about the issues of the farmers, who are in distress. The play was based on a poor farmer, Supna, who wishes to be remembered as part of the legacy of his native village.

The protagonist aspires that the legacy is shared equally by both — rich landlords (also a metaphor used for authoritative forces) and the poor farmers of the village.

Despite the objections raised by the local landlords, he continues his struggle to get an equal standing.

Ending up behind bars in a fabricated case by the landlord, Supna’s dream remains unfulfilled, which also presented a sharp commentary on the unfulfilled dreams of farmers of the country.
