The District Library, Amritsar along with Punjabi Samvaad staged a play Tirhaayi Umar Addiction: There is way out on Friday.

Based on the impact of drug abuse on young children and its social causes, Azad Bhagat Singh Virasat Manch’s Daljit Sona and his team of actors conveyed the message to fight the menace of drug addiction prevalent in the society.

Written and directed by Jyoti Bawa to mark the martydom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the play received huge applause from the audience comprising mostly of youth.

“The message was to do away with drug menace and empower today’s youth by making them realise their inner potential. If we manage to rehabliate even 50% of the youth involved in drug abuse, our work is done,” said Bawa.

In the end, an oath was taken by all present members of the library, Punjabi Sahit Sangam, Nari Chetna Manch, Amritsar Consumers Welfare Forum and Guru Teg Bahadur School students against drug abuse.
