Plaint over illegal construction

Varun Sareen, an RTI activist, on Friday met MC commissioner Sonali Giri and submitted his complaint regarding the beginning of an illegal construction in the walled city.

He said, “A common man notices the ongoing illegal construction and complaints to the MC. Why the offices of the Municipal Town Planning wing have turned a blind eye to it. The MC should take action against the MTP, ATPs and buildings inspectors in case of illegal building in their respective areas.”

“I met MC commissioner and filed a complaint about an ongoing illegal building in Hall Bazaar. She assured of necessary action,” added Varun Sareen.

Instead of demolishing the illegal constructions the MC writes police to register FIR and PSPCL for disconnect the power connection.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had clearly issued directions that no construction could be carried out in the walled city.

Several social and RTI activists have been complaining to the MC officials about the ongoing construction of hotels around Golden Temple.
