Amritsar: A minor dispute over the parking of a scooter in front of a house took an ugly turn when two groups allegedly attacked each other. Around six persons from both sides were reportedly injured in the incident that occurred in Govind Nagar.  Nirvair Singh said his wife Arvind Kaur runs a boutique in the residence. She had parked her scooter in front of the house of Kuldeep Singh. He alleged that Kuldeep objected to this and used abusive language. When he objected to this, Kuldeep, along with several others, entered her house and beat up his mother Rupinder Kaur and their employee Manga.  On the other hand, Kuldeep said Nirvair Singh and his accomplices barged into their house and beat up his grandmother Balbir Kaur. A case has been registered. TNS

Archbishop to be in city on Sept 9

Amritsar: On a two-day visit, Archbishop of Canterbury, worldwide head of Anglican Church (Anglican Communion), will arrive here on September 9. It is the Archbishop's first visit to the holy city. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the one who installs the king of Great Britain and is also responsible to perform all the religious sacraments of the royal family. He has the same status in Protestant churches as the Pope has in Roman Catholic Church. TNS

Three booked on murder charge 

Amritsar: The rural police have booked three persons on the charge of murder bid. The accused had fired upon Ranjit Singh of Dagg village, falling under the Bhindisaida police station, here on Wednesday evening.  He sustained bullet injuries in his left arm and left ear. He was immediately rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital here. TNS
