A delegation of the Punjab Parents Association (PPA) is all set to meet Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore at Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh tomorrow to request him to implement the Fee Regulatory Act before beginning of the new academic session.

The association has already sent a letter to the Governor’s office in this connection.

The PPA president, MK Sharma, said they would urge the Governor in person to ensure implementation of the legislation to keep a check on spiraling fee in private schools.

The communiqué reads: “Request you for looking into the matter in regard to the implementation of the Fee Regulatory Act in Punjab in order to regulate fee and funds being charged by unaided private schools in Punjab.”

The state government had enacted the Fee Regulatory Act on December 23, 2016. Sharma said hopefully the said Act was notified but the same was not implemented in the state.

He said, “As the new academic session is about to begin, the state government should implement the enacted Act immediately.”

“Lakhs of parents will again be exploited by school managements during the coming academic session if it is delayed,” he added. He said the Act would give relief to lakhs of parents in Punjab.
