Amritsar, January 2

The re-polling for three booths at Bhittewad Wadala village and for one booth at Ladeh village was conducted peacefully amid tight security here on Wednesday. The officials reported a poll percentage of 55 per cent.

The election office had announced re-polling at Ladeh as a few miscreants had damaged ballot boxes after snatching these from the polling staff before the conclusion of the process. At Bhittewad Wadala village, polling could not be held due to wrong election symbols printed on ballot papers for a candidate contesting for the post of sarpanch. The election for the candidates of panch had earlier been conducted.

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Kamaldeep Singh Sangha said that the election process was peaceful and fair. He also announced a holiday on Thursday for the polling staff which had performed duties in these villages on Wednesday.
