Amritsar, September 7

Despite tension between India and Pakistan, the latter has permitted the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-Delhi to hold a nagar kirtan dedicated to 550th Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev from the Attari-Wagah joint checkpost on October 31.

SAD-Delhi president Paramjit Singh Sarna, along with his brother Harwinder Singh Sarna, today returned from Pakistan after a three-day stay. Paramjit said they had received written permission following a joint meeting of the Auqaf Board and Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

The nagar kirtan will commence from Delhi’s Gurdwara Guru Nanak Piao on October 28. He said they had invited the Governor and Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab to take part in the procession during their meeting held in Lahore today. The Guru Granth Sahib will be placed in a palanquin, made with 2.5-kg gold. It will be installed at Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib after the nagar kirtan ends.
