Notorious criminal lands in police net, pistol recovered

The Amritsar (Rural) police have arrested a notorious criminal, identified as Shivpartap Singh, alias SP, of Udoke Kalan village.

He was wanted in eight criminal cases, including murder case, registered in Amritsar, Batala and Mohali.

The court had declared him a proclaimed offender in three cases. Investigations reveled that in order to evade arrest, he used to frequently change his residence and identity.

Terming it a major success, Amritsar (Rural) SSP Parampal Singh said he was arrested by the Mehta police and a .12 bore pistol and three live cartridges were recovered from his possession.

A fresh case under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against him.

The SSP said Shivpartap was brought on police remand and he was being questioned to know about his accomplices.
