A local lawyer has asked four local residents, including two women, to render an apology for misleading people by staging a protest near BBK DAV college here while holding placards on Valentine’s Day, stating that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was given death sentence on the same day.

The lawyer, Sandeep Gorsi, has in a legal notice, issued to the four persons, claimed that as their pictures of protests with the placards were widely circulated on social media and other platforms, it has resulted in misleading many who had turned offensive against couples celebrating the day.

Gorsi said the death sentence was pronounced on October 7, 1930, and execution took place on March 23, 1931. Gorsi alleged, “It was perhaps done at the behest of some political organisation and has maligned the patriotism of martyrs such as Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. Gorsi claimed that he would be forced to initiate legal proceedings against the accused if they failed to apologise.
