Amritsar, July 14

Four days have passed since 14-year-old Jaipal Singh from Cheema Bath village went missing, but the police are still clueless.

They have failed to trace the victim so far.

Victim’s mother Sharanjit Kaur had accused her former husband, his second wife and their relatives of kidnapping the victim. Though the police have registered a kidnapping case against Waryam Singh, an ex-serviceman and others, in this connection, they are yet to make any breakthrough in the case.

Sharanjit was married to Waryam Singh around 14 years ago and they have two children Jaipal Singh (14) and Kirandeep Kaur (11) from the marriage.

She said after the marriage, her in-laws started harassing her and for the past five years, she, along with her children, had been living with her parents at Cheema Bath village.

Sharanjit said she had filed an alumni and maintenance case against her former husband in a Baba Bakala court.

“On Tuesday, Jaipal went out of the house to buy some household items, but did not return. We looked for him, but to no avail. I am convinced that my former husband had kidnapped my son. Residents informed me that a black vehicle with black windowpanes had been roaming in the village for the past several days,” she added.

Mohit Kumar, Station House Officer, Beas polices station, said they were scrutinising the CCTV cameras installed at different points in the village, besides looking into call details to find some clue.

He said till now, there was no clue about the boy.

About the involvement of his father, the Station House Officer said investigations carried out so far did not hint at his involvement therefore he had not been arrested.
