The rural police have booked a married woman and her alleged lovers on the charge of murdering her mother-in-law. Though the incident occurred on October 7, a complaint was lodged at Tarsikka police station by her husband on Thursday. Gurpreet Singh, a resident of the Dashmesh Nagar and son of the deceased, identified her as Joginder Kaur (58). He told that on October 7 evening he received a call from his brother Lovepreet Singh that his mother had died. Gurpreet said he reached home the next day evening and therefore could not see the body of Joginder Kaur.
Gurpreet said in some pictures of his mother he found injury marks on her face. He said that his sister also told him that there was injury marks on the back of her head and neck. He suspected that his mother Joginder Kaur was murdered by his wife and her lovers, identified as Shera Singh and Sethi.
He said his mother used to object to her relationship with them and therefore they killed her after planning.
The police had registered a case under Sections 302, 120-B and 34 of the IPC against the three suspects.
Pak prisoner’s bid to escape foiled
In an unsuccessful attempt, a Pakistani prisoner tried to escape from the high security Amritsar Central jail premises here on Thursday. He was identified as Yaqoob of district Toba Tek Singh, Pakistan.
According to Parshotam Lal, Assistant Superintendent of Amritsar Central jail, the accused on the pretext of going to canteen came outside his barrack and tried to flee from watch tower number 11 from where head warden Rajwant Singh nabbed him. A complaint was lodged with Islamabad police. — TNS
