Residents of New Jaspal Nagar on the Sultanwind road are irked at the ignorant attitude of the Municipal Corporation (MC) as they have been getting contaminated water supply for over a fortnight. They say the problem has been acute in the Gali Number 1 near Kalsi School.  They fear leakage in pipeline due to which sewage has been getting mixed with potable water.

Harjit Singh, a resident, said people were fetching water from Gurdwara Toot Sahib. Former councillor Surinder Singh Sultanwind said, “Incumbent councillor Mohan Singh Madimegha resides near the same locality. The problem should have been resolved swiftly.”

He said sewage pipeline ended at the end of the street number 1 where stagnant sewage percolated through broken water pipe, making the potable water highly contaminated.

Area councillor Mohan Singh Madimegha said the problem was in his knowledge and he had got sewerage cleaned. “In case, the problem persists, I will further get it de-silted,” he added.
