A 35-year-old married woman, in collusion with her paramour, killed the latter’s wife and five-year-old daughter at Preet Nagar in Mohkampura on Tuesday. The victims had been residing in the accused’s house on rent. The accused has been identified as Kamlesh, wife of Ram Tirath. She has been arrested. Her paramour Deva Nand is a personnel of the Indo Tibetan Border Force (ITBP). The deceased have been identified as Suman (27) and her daughter Riya (5).

During preliminary investigation, Kamlesh confessed that she had illicit relations with Deva Nand for the past four years. She rented out a portion of her house to Deva Nand’s family. Recently, Suman came to know about the relationship between her husband and Kamlesh following which frequent quarrels took place in the family.

Kamlesh said she, along with Deva Nanad, planned to kill Suman and her daughter. On Monday night, she murdered Suman and Riya with a sharp-edge weapon (datar). After killing them, she buried Riya in a nearby plot and threw Suman’s body near Bagh Kale Sah near her house.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Sulakhan Singh, investigating officer, from the Mohkampura police station, said, “We found the woman’s body lying in the open today morning. Local councilor Jaswinder Singh identified her as Suman, tenant of Ram Tirath. By the time we reached Ram Tirath’s house, Kamlesh had left with an intention to flee after committing the crime. We arrested her from the railway station.”

Acting on the information she provided, the police recovered Riya’s body. The weapon used to commit the murders has also been recovered, the SI said. Deva Nand is yet to be arrested. The Mohkampura police have registered a case under Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC.
