Inspector, three ASIs booked for abetting suicide of Ajnala cop

AMRITSAR:A day after a constable posted at Chandigarh shot himself dead at Ajnala bus stand, the police have booked an Inspector and three ASI rank officers charging them for abetting suicide.

A day after a constable posted at Chandigarh shot himself dead at Ajnala bus stand, the police have booked an Inspector and three ASI rank officers charging them for abetting suicide.

The case was registered following the recovery of a suicide note from the possession of the deceased. In the suicide note, he says that even after his poor health conditions, he was posted in the field. And despite his pleas before the accused cops regarding this, they preferred to ignore his request. He also accused the cops of not returning the money thhe borrowed from him.

A case under Section 306 of the IPC has been registered in this connection. The cops who have been booked are Inspector Pardeep Kumar, ASI Dharam Singh posted at OSI branch of 82 battalion of Punjab Armed Police, Chandigarh, ASI Harbhajan Singh of 36 battalion of PAP Bahadargarh, Patiala and ASI Harish Kumar of 27 battalion. 

Sub-Inspector Amandeep Singh, SHO at the Ajnala police station, said they found a suicide note in which Harjit Singh, the deceased cop, has accused the above said cops of harassing him. He said he had borrowed around Rs 80,000 to Harbhajan, Harish and Pardeep which they did not return. 

The SHO said no arrest has been made so far. They have informed the respective battalions about the registration of case against the accused cops, he added.
