Government employees under the banner of the Punjab Subordinate Services Federation on Monday staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here. The federation leaders submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.

District president Gurdeep Singh Bajwa said demands such as regular jobs for contractual employees, release of four instalments of the Dearness Allowance, implementation of the Pay Commission report and raise in different allowances had been pending for a long time.

He said the employees were against the professional tax imposed by the government and demanded that it should be removed. The federation demanded that midday meal workers and ASHA workers should be given salary like regular employees.
