Amritsar, August 18

Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla and Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu attended the annual function of Amritsar Fruit and Vegetable Merchants Union and listened to their grievance on Sunday.

Charanjit Singh Batra, president of Amritsar Fruit and Vegetable Merchants Union, demanded redrawing the delimitation of Vallah Ammunition Dump. The merchants are not able to construct godowns following the jurisdiction of ammunition dump.

Office bearers of the union also demanded a flyover on railway crossing and better sanitation in Vallah Mandi. They also demanded construction of a wall around the vegetable market to prevent thefts. “The roads inside the market are also in poor condition. The government should reconstruct these roads,” said Tajinder Singh Kamboj, a merchant.

Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu assured the merchants to address their demands. “Some of the issues are concerned with the Mandi Board. The MC will collaborate with Mandi board and address the issues.” — TNS
