69 govt schools made self-smart in district

AMRITSAR: A total of 69 schools have been converted into smart ones under the self-smart school project of the state Education Department.

A total of 69 schools have been converted into smart ones under the self-smart school project of the state Education Department. Twenty more schools are in the pipeline.

A smart school is destined to have world-class facilities, including solar panels and sound infrastructure. Smart schools are being developed with the help of government. Self-smart schools get community’s help.

Officials motivated community members to come forward to help the government in converting schools into smart ones. Smart schools are equipped with digital monitors, high-speed Internet, projectors, tablets, state-of-the-art laboratories and infrastructure for sports activities. Science and mathematics are taught in English.

DEO Salwinder Singh Samra, Deputy DEO Rajesh Sharma, accompanied by District Smart School Mentor Balraj Singh, interacted with community members.

Deputy DEO Rajesh Sharma said, “The gathering was informed about the aspects of smart schools, facilities and the positive impact it will have on students.”

Balraj Singh said, “There are three types of smart schools. There are 21 which are being converted by the state government, 51 under the Smart City project, and the goal of self-smart schools has been set at 51. People have come forward to express their desire to improve schools. They are appreciating the idea. We carry out motivational meetings in different educational blocks to promote the idea.”
