Sikh delegation leaves for Pakistan

Representatives of various Sikh organisations from Haryana on Sunday crossed the border to visit Gurdwara Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Panja Sahib. They will bring sand and water from holy sarovars of the gurdwaras.

After paying obeisance at the Golden Temple, the priest, Giani Sukhjinder Singh, presented them saropas.

Pritpal Singh, a member of the delegation that is going to Pakistan, said, "We are nine members and have an aim to plant 550 saplings dedicating to the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. The sand and water will be brought as a symbolic gesture which will be utilised to plant trees at various places here." 

The devotees initiated their journey from Gurdwara Manji Sahib in Karnal. In the next phase, they will go to Leh and Ladakh in September to plant trees. In October, they will visit Sultanpur Lodhi and later on, they will visit Nepal, Bangladesh and Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan.
