UGC seeks data on sexual harassment

AMRITSAR: The University Grants Commission has directed all universities to send in their annual return on cases of sexual harassment as well regarding constitution of internal complaint committee on issues of gender-based violence.

The University Grants Commission has directed all universities to send in their annual return on cases of sexual harassment as well regarding constitution of internal complaint committee on issues of gender-based violence.

The universities have also been instructed to inform colleges affiliated to them.

The educational institutions have been asked to submit details of sexual harassment complaints received in a year, number of complaints solved, workshops held in the institution to create awareness against sexual harassment in a year, and desired action taken by the authorities.

The university has to send information in consolidated form in respect of university, including affiliated, constituent colleges. —TNS
