AMRITSAR: The district administration has asked the Health Department to ensure that employees of public and private hospitals are adequately trained to handle biomedical waste.

The district administration has asked the Health Department to ensure that employees of public and private hospitals are adequately trained to handle biomedical waste.

The administration has asked the department to organise training for the employees.

Civil Surgeon, Dr Hardeep Singh Ghai said the biomedical waste was already being managed as per the norms set by the government. He said that mishandling of biomedical waste could result in health hazards for the public and as such they are going to keep strict check.

According to the health staff, the biomedical waste is dealt with utmost care keeping in view the threat it poses.
