New SSP takes charge

Newly appointed Amritsar (Rural) SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal assumed office here on Thursday. SSP Parampal Singh has been shifted by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Speaking to mediapersons, Duggal said that conducting the parliamentary polls in a peaceful manner would be his top priority. He said he was feeling blessed after joining as the SSP of the holy city.

He has been transferred from Telengana. He said he would work for better police-public participation in controlling the crime and maintaining law and order.

“The Lok Sabha polls in the state are round the corner, so it is my prime duty to maintain law and order to ensure that the polls are conducted in a peaceful manner,” Duggal said, adding that the drug menace was another big challenge. He also held a meeting with senior police officials to know about the working of the rural police.
