Diamonds are every girl’s weakness, as popularly believed. Whether it’s on your neck or nails, it makes one shine in the crowd. And so, given the stature of the nail art in the beauty industry, an International Book of World Record attempt was made for the most expensive diamond nail art at Bridal Villa saloon in the holy city.

Nail technician Thoi was called from Manipur to create a nail art with diamonds worth Rs 50,000. Thoi explained the process as she demonstrated her expertise for all. “The art has to be done carefully and with patience. It takes a lot of time to stick each diamond on a nail and multiple layers of adhesives and enamel to make sure that it doesn’t fall off. It includes various steps, such as cleaning, filing and shaping, smoothening the surface of nails with buffer, applying extensions, using gel to make it last longer and finally doing the nail art and at the end, sealing the nails,” she said.

For the style enthusiasts in the city, point to note is that apart from being unique and trendy, the nail art will only be provided on rent basis, with customised options. “The services are available for a few months just for our VIP bridal clients who want to make a trend by having unique and most expensive nail art. It’s almost like renting a piece of jewellery and we will ensure to take a security deposit beforehand,” said Ritesh Rana, owner of Bridal Villa saloon. This customised nail art service will be provided on rent of Rs 7,500 for one day.

On the world record attempt, he said, “Our clients demand unique things, so we decided to attempt the record because no one in the world has ever done such a thing. We use six to seven layers of gel, glue and acrylic gel so that diamonds stay intact. Further, clients have to visit us next day to remove the nail art.”

The entry has been sent to International Book of World Record and the organisers are awaiting reply, which is expected to take some time.
