Nagar kirtan marks ninth Guru’s martyrdom in city

AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today carried out a nagar kirtan from Akal Takht to Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal to mark the martyrdom day of ninth Sikh Master, Guru Teg Bahadur.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today carried out a nagar kirtan from Akal Takht to Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal to mark the martyrdom day of ninth Sikh Master, Guru Teg Bahadur. 

Under the patronage of Guru Granth Sahib and led by Panj Piaras, the nagar kirtan commenced after ardas by Head Priest Giani Jagtar Singh.

Sangat welcomed the nagar kirtan. Langar was served. A large number of devotees took part in the nagar kirtan procession. Young devotees performed ‘gatka’ (Sikh martial arts) .

Shiromani Committee Chief Secretary Roop Singh said the martyrdom of the Sikh Guru was a reflection of respecting all religions.
