Models of city students selected for INSPIRE exhibition

Scientific models created by two city students will be displayed at the national-level science exhibition under Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) awards. The models were chosen among many displayed at a state-level exhibition under INSPIRE.

Talking about his internet-based spy camera, Kuber Arora, a student of Class X at GD Goenka Public School, said, “I have made a spy camera the images of which can be accessed by the users from their android phones, iOS and desktop computers.”

Another student, who is set to represent Amritsar at the national level, Arshdeep Singh, Class XII, Government Senior Secondary School, Khalchian, has modelled an earthquake resistance mechanism. He said, “My model is about disaster resistance. I have talked about the usage of damping systems. My model also highlights the need for having dome shape buildings to avoid disaster.”

“All our traditional buildings and monuments have followed this rule,” said Bharti Sharma, Arshdeep’s guide.

District Science Supervisor Sudeep Kaur said, “Two models from our city have been chosen from the state-level exhibition to be presented at the national-level science exhibition.” The INSPIRE Awards are organised to motivate students to study science. It is organised by the Department of Science and Technology, under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
