Mobiles seized from jail

Amritsar: The Amritsar Central Jail staff have confiscated yet another set of mobile phones. According to information, seven unclaimed cell phones, a self-made charger and two batteries were found in room number 7, 8 and barrack number 6.

According to information, seven unclaimed cell phones, a self-made charger and two batteries were found in room number 7, 8 and barrack number 6. The Gate Hakima police have registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC  and Sections 42 and 52-A of the Prisoners’ Act. TNS

Picture of bike lifter released

The police have released a picture of a suspect said to have stolen a motorcycle parked outside a private hospital here on May 17.   Sanjiv Kumar, the complainant, had gone to the hospital for checkup of his wife. He said he had parked his bike bearing registration number PB-02-BB-9380 outside the hospital. When he returned, he found the bike missing. A CCTV camera footage revealed that it was lifted by an unknown person. TNS

Amit Shah to visit Amritsar

Phagwara: BJP president Amit Shah will arrive on a two-day visit to Punjab next month as part of his 95-day country-wide tour which began in Jammu in April. According to Union Minister Vijay Sampla, who is also the president of the BJP’s Punjab unit, Shah will be in Punjab on June 28 and 29. Shah may also address party workers at Amritsar and Jalandhar, Sampla said. “The venues will be finalised in a meeting of the party’s general secretaries,” he however added. Shah is travelling across states to strategise and find ways to strengthen the party at the grass-roots level with an eye on the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. PTI
