Minor girl raped, youth at large

AMRITSAR: A minor girl has been allegedly raped by a youth of her native village. The Ajnala police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Akashdeep Singh of Bhoewali village. No arrest has been made so far.

A minor girl has been allegedly raped by a youth of her native village. The Ajnala police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Akashdeep Singh of Bhoewali village. No arrest has been made so far.

The 15-year-old victim’s mother stated to the police that the girl studied in Class X in Government Senior Secondary School, Kiaspur village. The girl complained that while going to school on Monday, the car-borne accused waylaid her near the village gurdwara. “He forcibly pulled her inside the car and took to a residence in Ajnala where he established physical relations against her will. Later, he dropped her near the village drain,” her mother stated in her complaint.

Earlier, she did not tell her family about it fearing social stigma. She gathered courage later and narrated the entire incident to her mother who lodged the compliant with the police on Wednesday.

Harjit Kaur, investigating officer, said the medical examination of the victim was conducted and further investigation was under way. The accused has been absconding since the registration of the case. Raids are on to nab him, she added. Section 376 of the IPC and Sections 4, 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act have been slapped.
