A five-member team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) arrived at Government Medical College here today to conduct a review inspection of the medical-teaching institute.

The college had recently submitted a compliance report claiming that all discrepancies listed by the MCI team during the previous inspection had been done away with and the college was ready for a fresh inspection.

The team visited various departments of the college and took notice of the work done by the college in areas where discrepancies were listed during the previous inspection.

The college had earlier been able to get the seats of MBBS course increased to 200 from 150. As per the eligibility, the college had to upgrade its infrastructure so as to be eligible for increasing the seats.

College principal Dr BS Bal said, “The team has expressed satisfaction over the status of the infrastructure and other eligibility criteria.” However, the MCI team would submit its report with the Ministry of Health, which would contact the college in case any discrepancies were found.
