Man shot at, injured

Amarnath Singh, a resident of Daburji, sustained a bullet injury on his leg when several armed persons fired at him near Chowk Mehta here late on Wednesday evening. One of the accused has been identified as Gauravjit Singh of Rangar Nangal village. He along with two unidentified persons has been booked for murder attempt.

Amarnath said his wife Harpreet Kaur was a teacher in a private school owned by Gauravjit Singh. He said she left the school around a month ago and this left the accused upset who allegedly used abusive language against them. He said they went to the school and expressing their anguish over this but the accused threatened them of dire consequences.

At around 8.45 pm on Wednesday, he was at a spare parts shop when Gauravjit fired at him. Onlookers took me to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital.

The Mehta police have registered a case against the accused. No arrest has been made so far.
