A man was killed and his wife sustained severe injuries in a road accident, near Dhagana village, 35 km from here, on Sunday. The Patti Sadar police have registered a case against Jeewan Singh of Ghariala village, who drove the Tavera car that hit the victims.

ASI Kewal Singh, investigating officer (IO), said the deceased had been identified as Atma Singh (55)  of Makhu (Ferozepur district). Baljinder Kaur, his wife, has been admitted to a hospital and her condition is stated to be out of danger.

Kewal Singh said the deceased, along with his wife, was going to Rajoke village on a motorcycle when they were hit by the car from the front near Dhagana village. Atma Singh was taken to Dayanand Medical College (DMC) in Ludhiana where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Patti Sadar police have registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279 and 427 of the IPC against the accused.
