Man killed in road mishap

Tarn Taran: Major Singh (45), a truck driver of Roorikapura (Jaito), was killed in a road accident near Bagrian village bypass Sunday evening. The deceased parked his truck at a dhaba and went to attend the nature’s call. While returning, he was crushed by some vehicle. ASI Naresh Kumar, the investigating officer, said efforts were being made to identify the vehicle involved in the mishap. The Sadar police have registered a case under Sections 304-A and 279 of the IPC. OC

Heroin seized, three held

Tarn Taran: The police arrested three persons from different places and recovered 271 gm of heroin from their them on Sunday. A police team, led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Sukhraj Singh, SHO, Chohla Sahib police station, arrested Manjit Singh Mannun of Raniwalah village and recovered 260 gm of heroin. The CIA staff arrested Harjit Singh with six gm of heroin while five gm was seized from Jatinder Singh of Ghariala village. They have been booked under Sections 21, 61 and 85 under the NDPS Act, the police said. OC

Theatre festival concludes 

Amritsar: The five-day theatre festival ‘Panj Roza Rang Utsav’ concluded at Virsa Vihar on Monday. The festival was organised by the Virsa Vihar, in collaboration with the Punjab Sangeet Natak Academy, Chandigarh, at Karatar Singh Duggal Auditorium. On the concluding day, a play — Mitthi da Garinda — directed by Kewal Dhaliwal was performed. TNS
