Man ends life, wife, mother-in-law booked

Hardip Kumar, a resident of the Kathunangal area, committed suicide after a dispute with his wife and mother-in-law. 

According to Paramjit Kumar, the brother of the deceased, he was thrown out of his in-laws’ house after he was insulted. Hardip had gone to his in-laws’ house to bring his wife and children back. 

The police have booked Hardip’s wife, Jyoti, and her mother, a resident of the Kot Khalsa area, on charges of abetment to suicide while no arrest has been made so far. 

Paramjit, a resident of Kathunangal, stated to the police that his younger brother Hardip Kumar was married to Jyoti around nine years ago and the couple had a child. He said on Sunday, Hardip’s mother-in-law came to the village and took away Jyoti and her child with her. He said yesterday morning, Hardip went to her house in the Kot Khalsa area to take his wife and child back. He said at around 10.30 am, he received a call from his brother in which he alleged that he was standing near the Nayyan Wala turn. He said his wife and 

mother-in-law pushed him out of the house after making him eat food. He said he was beaten up by them. He said he was not feeling well and called Paramjit to accompany him back. 

He said when he was bringing him back, his condition deteriorated. He was admitted to a private hospital where he died. Doctors said he had consumed poison. 

On Paramjit’s statement, the Chheharta police have registered a case under Sections 306 and 34, IPC, against Jyoti and her mother while no arrest has been made so far. Police authorities said the matter was under investigation.
