Man booked in job fraud case

AMRITSAR: The Maqboolpura police have booked Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakhu of Chak Mishri Khan village for allegedly duping a number of persons on the pretext of providing them jobs in government departments.

The Maqboolpura police have booked Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakhu of Chak Mishri Khan village for allegedly duping a number of persons on the pretext of providing them jobs in government departments.

Harjit Singh, investigating officer, said the police had got a tip-off that Lakhwinder Singh used to dupe people with a promise to get them job of peon or clerk in courts and different departments. He used to take money ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh from every person. He also handed them fake appointment letters.

He said raids were on to arrest him. A case under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against him.
