Kathunangal, January 9

Punjab Revenue and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia started his election campaign on his home turf Majitha today.

After bhog of Akhand Path at gurdwara, he announced to file his nomination papers for the Majitha Assembly constituency on January 12.

He gave a call to his supporters to reach Gurdwara Ber Sahib on the day of filing his nomination papers. Majithia exhorted people to put a stamp on overall development works undertaken by the SAD-BJP government. He said, “My opponents have no achievement to present. They are just relying on false promises and negative propaganda.”

Terming Congress election manifesto a bundle of fake and unrealistic promises, Majithia said, “The Congress has just completed a formality of releasing election manifesto as everyone knows its track record. It stopped all welfare schemes and put a complete ban on recruitment for government jobs.”

“Outsiders are trying to invade Punjab as Mughals did, but the brave Majhails are fully aware of cheap tactics of such people. They are eager to teach Congress and AAP a lesson. Both parties defamed Punjabis as druggists and also indulged in molestation of women,” he added.

He said, “Captain Amarinder and comedian Bhagwant Mann are day dreaming of becoming CMs, but people of Punjab are fully aware of their characters. The Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has tried to strengthen communal harmony in the state and focused on overall development.”

Terming AAP as B team of the Congress, Majithia added that both parties stood exposed on the SYL issue. He said the SAD-BJP alliance took a firm stand in favour of people of Punjab and returned land to real owners, besides completely ending the SYL issue.

Commenting on Navjot Singh Sidhu joining the Congress, Majithia said, “Sidhu joined Congress for his personal gains. He has been criticising Congress for anti-Sikh and anti-Punjab policies till date.”

Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Rajmohinder Majitha, Major Shivi, Talbir Singh Gill, Rakesh Prasher, media adviser Sarchand Singh and Ranjit Singh Variyam Nangal were present among others on the occasion.
