Amritsar, April 25

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, AAP candidate for the Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency, has asked BJP candidate Hardeep Singh Puri to tender an apology for his remarks, seeking “minor” apology from the UK over the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, at a political rally in Faizabad.

Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Dhaliwal said Puri delivered the statement while addressing a political rally in Faizabad on April 8. “He had said that a minor apology would strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre is no minor occurrence for the Indians,” said Dhaliwal.

He said announcing Puri’s candidature by the BJP had proved that it did not have any local deserving candidate. “The outcome of the election will prove that Puri’s poll performance is worse than Arun Jaitley’s who had lost the 2014 Parliamentary elections to Capt Amarinder Singh,” he added.
