The rural police police have recovered the car snatched from a trader but it is yet to make any arrest in the case even after elapsing of 48 hours.

Four miscreants had snatched the car at gunpoint from Kunal Dhawan late Monday evening. The accused also took away Rs 2.85 lakh and three cell phones kept in the car. The police recovered the car from Ram Nagar on Sultanwind road. It tracked the location with one of the three mobiles kept on silent mode under the driver’s seat of car which the accused could not found. They switched off the other two mobiles.

Kunal Dhawan of Jhujar Avenue said he was going to Chandigarh via Mehta road. At around 10:15 am when he reached near Lalka Nagar village, a white car rammed into his vehicle from behind. “My car skidded off road. Three persons with covered faces came out of their vehicle. They were equipped with pistols and sharp-edged weapons. I was carrying Rs 2.85 lakh in cash, three cellphones and some documents in the car which they took away,” he said.

The Jandiala police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the Arms Act against the unidentified persons.

Amritsar rural SSP Parampal Singh said the police had some vital clues about the miscreants and efforts were on to arrest them. According to information, the police have identified two of the suspects and raids were on to arrest them.

The police also suspect the role of notorious gangster Shubham Singh and his accomplices in this case. “It will be premature to say anything at this moment. Investigation is under progress,” the SSP added.

The police suspect gangster Shubham Singh’s role behind it. Four robbers had taken away the car, Rs 2.85 lakh in cash and three cell phones from a trader, Kunal Dhawan.
