Lok adalat settles 25 cases

Amritsar: A Lok Adalat was held here at the district courts last week in which 25 cases were settled.  Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) secretary Sumit Makkar said five benches were constituted for the monthly Lok Adalat. He said Rs 1.23 crore was given as award money to the litigants. He stressed that litigants should avail the services of Lok Adalats to get speedy justice. TNSTrain cancelled

Man arrested with opium

Tarn Taran: The police arrested two persons from different places and seized 100 gram of opium and eight gram of heroin from their possession on Sunday. A police team of the anti-narcotic cell headed by sub inspector Paramjit Singh nabbed Gurpeet Singh of Patti and seized eight gram of heroin from him. In another case, the city police seized 100 gram of opium from Baljinder Singh of Jhabal village. Cases under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered against the accused, the police said. OC
