Lohri, the festival of happiness and joy, was celebrated with great pomp and show at various educational institutes across the city. Students of different schools dressed in colourful traditional attires put up a great show together.

Students and staff of Mount Litera Zee School celebrated Lohri with fun and frolic. The campus of DAV Public School reverberated with the popular Lohri folk song ‘sunder mundriye’.

In a colourful programme, students highlighted the cultural significance of the festival and wished for a better year ahead.

Another institution, Manav Public School celebrated Lohri with great fervour and enthusiasm. The school students were informed about the legacy and relevance of Lohri.

Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA), Khalsa College of Education (KCE) and other associated educational institutions spread the message of saving the girl child on the day. Apart from this, art and literature lovers gathered at the Virsa Vihar complex and danced to the tune of popular folk numbers. Among the prominent personalities present included Virsa Vihar secretary Kewal Dhaliwal and Punjabi actress Jatinder Kaur. The society also released their 2018 calendar.
