Prem Kumar, a salesman at a liquor vend, was shot at by some unidentified persons in the late night hours on Tuesday. He is fighting for the life at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital. The police are clueless about the unidentified assailants.
The Sadar police are scrutinising the CCTV cameras installed nearby.
Vijay Kumar, another employee of the liquor vend, stated to the police that he along with Prem Kumar, a resident of Durga Enclave in Islamabad, worked at a liquor vend in Medical Enclave. After closing the shop at around 11.15 pm, they were returning home. Prem Kumar was on a scooter while Vijay was following him on a cycle.
He said that when he reached near JMD Storage near Medical Enclave, he found Prem Kumar standing on the roadside with his scooter. When he enquired, Prem told that two motorcycle-borne persons had fired at him. One gunshot hit him in his stomach while the other one missed. Before opening fire, the bikers had enquired about the way to Medical Enclave. With the help of passersby, Vijay got him admitted to the GNDH where his condition is stated to be serious.
Sarwan Singh, investigating officer, said that a case under Sections 307, 34 of the IPC and 25, 27, 54, 59 of the Arms Act was registered against unknown persons. He said the police found two empty bullet shells and two missed cartridges. He said there was no clue about the assailants while the statement of the victim was yet to be recorded as he was not medically fit for the same.
He said CCTV footages were being scrutinised for finding clues.
